Claim

  1. A woman who received electro-convulsive therapy, ECT, for puerperal psychosis says that the treatment destroyed her short term memory and here ability to think during her illness.

Counter claim

  1. A doctor at a mother and baby clinic says that ECT need not disorient the patient any more than drugs usually prescribed for depression.

  2. ECT does not affect breast milk like antidepressant drugs do.
