Economic barriers to women's access to the judicial process

Nature

Women are less likely than men to possess the assets needed to finance litigation to protect their individual rights. Fewer women than men are employed and the women who are employed often receive less pay for the same work. Furthermore, many husbands, either by law or de facto, exercise control over household assets and expenditures.
