Mastitis is inflammation of the breast which causes swelling, severe aching and soreness around the nipple. Hot flushes may occur. Cause and treatment are not well understood.
Incidence
Incidence of mastitis is not dependent on the woman lactating. It has occurred following pregnancy or coming off oral contraceptives.
