Disobedient wives

In traditional communities wives have been expected to obey orders from their husbands concerning: flirting with other men (including secretive conversations, suggestive gestures), leaving the house without permission (especially if the husband is asleep or intoxicated), and shutting the door against the husband. These issues are of special importance in certain modern cultures and sects, especially those with conservative views concerning the freedom of women.
