Disintermediation

Nature

The process of ridding economic transactions of middle-men is occurring across the Western economies. Although it is intended to bring producers and consumers together, increase efficiency and heighten customer satisfaction, much the reverse is often true. Jobs are sacrificed and service impaired as there are fewer people available to respond fully to customer questions and needs.
