Denial by old people of the significance of the past

Old people tend to feel that the past is not helpful, an attitude reinforced by the attitudes of adults and the young. They neglect to share the traditions and experience that should be passed on to present society. Remembering past despair and disillusionment they are unable to relate this to the future and do not see their insight as relevant.
