Nature

Colitis is chronic inflammation of the large intestine, the colon. It is one of the most common diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. It may be caused by stress, infection, poor food habits, or aberrant immune reactions. It may be either acute or chronic and has symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea, and general weakness. In certain cases colitis may cause bloody diarrhoea or abdominal pain.
