There is evidence that the HIV/AIDs fight is becoming old. Governments, donors, and even some people within HIV positive groups are becoming complacent as life-prolonging therapy is more readily available. This complacency, however, is misplaced. The disease remains fatal with around 6,000 people per day still being diagnosed with AIDs.
According to Concern Worldwide: "There is increasing complacency regarding the danger of HIV and AIDS among younger populations. Today, only 36% of young men and 30% of young women (ages 15-24) in sub-Saharan Africa have comprehensive and correct knowledge of how to prevent HIV infection. Young people nowadays are often unaware that so many people died of HIV and AIDS related illnesses in the 1980s and 1990s".
