Restlessness (Yoga)
- Vyagra
Description
This is the state characteristic of most spiritual devotees. The mind is sometimes calm, sometimes disturbed. In a state of temporary calm the mind may understand when it hears of the real nature of subtle principles and may contemplate them for extended periods. But, because the mind is restless, concentration does not last long and then distraction arises again, so liberation or salvation is not achieved. Only the mind free from distractions and one-pointed may achieve this.
Context
One of five states of mind classification identified in yoga.
