Formication

This is a specific tactile hallucination when the person feels as though there is something crawling on or under the skin. It arises in particular during the delirium following alcohol withdrawal and as a cocaine withdrawal symptom. It is often accompanied by the delusion that the sensation is due to insects or worms.
