Astral body

theory, every individual has a [second body]

which is non-material and comprises the emotional part of the person and the higher intellectual faculties. Just as the physical body is liable to disorder, so is the astral body; and since it controls the instincts, senses, brain consciousness, passions, pleasure and pain, many diseases (mental and physical) and allergies are considered due to disorders of the etheric system or to lack of harmony between it and the physical system. Associated with belief in the second body are theories which explain ghosts, apparitions, zombies, werewolves, vampires, and traditional stories of transformation of men into wild beasts and so on, in terms of etherosis.
