Subsystem
Description
A given system may be conceptually subdivided into subsystems. In other words, elements of a system may themselves be systems of a lower order. A distinction is made between general and special purpose subsystems. A general purpose subsystem is a separately operating system (within a larger system) which does not play a specialized role in the larger system. A special purpose subsystem also plays a specialized role in the operation of the larger system.
