Network data structures

Description

A form of hierarchical structure used in the logical organization of computer data bases and to be contrasted with tree structures. Whereas in the the tree or arboreal cases the branches of the hierarchies do not connect between hierarchies, in the case of network structures they do. Any record may be related to any other record in the file. The file may therefore be searched in a multidirectional manner through the hierarchy.
