Metaphysics

A division of philosophy, including ontology and cosmology, that is concerned with the relations obtaining between the underlying reality and its manifestations. In its attempt to conceive the world as a whole by means of thought, it has been developed by the union and conflict of the urge toward mysticism and the urge toward science.
