Melody

The logically organized expression of tonal scale, pitch, harmony, tempo, rhythm, etc., in a succession of sounds, single notes or chords, by one or more instruments or voices. Melodic structures are of variable length and range from leitmotifs to many lines or bars expressing development of a theme.
