Differentiation
Description
The principle of differentiation is ubiquitous in biology, the evolution and development of the nervous system, behaviour, psychology, and culture. It is the process of transformation from a more general and homogeneous condition to one which is more specialized and heterogeneous. Wherever development occurs it proceeds from a state of relative globality and lack of differentiation to a state of increasing differentiation, articulation, and hierarchic order.
