1. A system so structured that if one knew all the relevant facts concerning the critical variables at any one moment, it could be predicted with a level of confidence approaching certainty what the relevant values of the variables at the next or any subsequent moment of time would be.

2. A type of general systems model, in terms of which the brain's functioning has been usefully simulated.
