Description

1. Techniques for increasing the capability of an individual to approach a complex problem situation, to gain comprehension to suit his particular needs, and to derive solutions to his problems.

2. Increased capability means: more rapid comprehension, better comprehension, the possibility of gaining a useful degree of comprehension in a situation that was too complex, speedier solutions, better solutions, and the possibility of finding solutions to problems that before seemed insoluble.

3. Complex situations include, for example: the professional problems of diplomats, executives, social scientists, life scientists, physical scientists, attorneys, designers, etc., for whatever period the problem situation exists.

4. The approach refers to an organization of conceptual activity in an integrated domain where hunches, impulses, intangibles, and the human feel for the situation usually coexist with powerful concepts, streamlined terminology and notation, sophisticated methods, and computer aids.

5. The means used are the development of intellectual work spaces (as a reconception of the individual office environment) in which every technical facility is provided to maintain creative thinking momentum (even when collaborators are geographically distant) in the examination, storage, display, restructuring, criticism, and comprehension of concept structures, as represented by any of a large variety of symbol structures.
